Horse Country: |
Florida ranks
third in the country, behind Texas and
California, in total number of horses (all
breeds).
.
Marion County is the Horse Capital of the World.
We are one of only four major Thoroughbred
breeding and training centers in the world.
• Ocala, Florida • Newmarket, England
• Chantilly, France • Lexington, Kentucky
.
We have the highest number of horses and
ponies in residence of any county in America.
Here in Ocala, events at the Florida Horse Park
include Polo, Jumping, and Show events. (on
CR-475, 2.2 miles north of CR-484)
.
More than 200 farms and training centers are
devoted to breeding, training and showing breeds
such as the Thoroughbred, Paso Fino, Missouri
Foxtrotter, Arabian, Miniature Horse,
Hunter/Jumper, Morgan, Quarter Horse and the
gentle giants, Draft Horses, among others.
.
Florida’s
